Hi, for my project at university we have to 'create a map of a piece of music' and I've chosen O Superman.

I think this is the correct information?:
    Laurie Anderson: vocals, vocoder, electronics
    Roma Baran: Farfisa organ, Casio
    Perry Hoberman: flute, saxophone

I just don't know actual musical instruments very well...and I've done my best, but I was wondering if you would be able to help me by telling me which parts of the song are the organ, casio, flute etc. Like I said, I think i know most of it like the sax, I just want to make sure I'm getting it completely right. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Hi there,

That is also what my record sleeves say...
only they don't mention extra "electronics" on Laurie's part.

    I have a Warner EP 45 from 1981
and an earlier One Ten Records EP 33 from 198.

What kind of map will you create?

    Best for your project, Angelika

The repetitive "ah ah ah" and probably the birds as well come from a Fairlight CMI.
Also not mentioned is the bass at the end which is a Minimoog...

Actually the repetitive "ah ah ah" was sampled in the Harmonizer H949 (which had a very short memory 0.5 sec.). I've read this in the liner notes in Big Science Cd reissue.
Other instruments played in O Superman: Roland VP330 vocoder (choir sounds), Farfisa, Casio, but not Minimoog.
