  • I In U in Rio Tops 500,000 Visitors

    Final visitor numbers for Laurie’s exhibition in Rio de Janeiro, I in U/Eu em Tu, were 535,929–a stunning average of 6960 a day! Hosted at the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil and free to the public, the show ran from March 29th to June 26th and was Laurie’s first solo show in Brazil.     Laurie will be curating and emceeing an event at the 92nd Street Y on April 29th exploring the porous borders between poetry and music. Featured poets include John Burnside, Ernesto Cardenal, David-Dephy Gogibedashvili, Hasina Gul, Yusef Komunyakaa, Juan Carlos Mestre, Joachim Sartorius, Piotr Sommer, and Pia Tafdrup.   • Woodstock Day School Soundout For Scholarships at Bearsville Theater

    Laurie will be playing at the Bearsville Theater Saturday, April 30th, in a benefit for the Woodstock Day School. The concert will also feature a performance from the Woodstock Day School Rock Ensemble.   • Georgia Accessible Aquarium Project

    For three days in February, Laurie will be a resident performer and researcher at Georgia Tech, as part of the Accessible Aquarium series. This project’s goal is to help the Aquarium to better serve the visually impaired by understanding how musicians such as Laurie translate visual stimuli into music.     On November 1st, Laurie will be honored at Legends 2011, a Pratt Institute scholarship benefit honoring icons of art and design.
